Co-ChairHello Everyone! I am a 4th year, Film and Media Studies major, and I am from Los Angeles, CA. I love to travel, venture new food spots on a monthly basis, and enjoy being lazy and just sleeping and watching netflix. I have been in Hermanas since Winter Quarter of my freshman year in college, and I know this will sound a bit cliché, but HaU changed my life! My first college experience was not the best; at the end of my freshman year I had a 1.9 GPA and was on academic probation. Once I started to be more active with HaU, my Hermanas were by my side and pushed me and made me want to succeed and not give up on myself. Now, over two years and lots of wonderful memories later, I have the honor to be this year's Co-Chair and have successfully raised up my GPA and have gotten out of Academic Probation, ready to graduate in June 2017. I am very excited for this upcoming year, not just for our steering but also for all of the new hermanas that we will get to meet, which I hope that includes you!
Hermanas Unidas to me, is like a stepping stone for our girls: you start with HaU, get comfortable in who you are and what you want to be, get comfortable with school and being away from home, and soon you'll be pushing yourself to do things for yourself that make you an even better person and better student than you already are! Feel free to email or text me, or any of us for that matter. I know it could feel weird texting someone you do not know, but trust, we are all very friendly and approachable! Co-ChairHello! My name is Evelyn Alvarado and I am ecstatic to announce that I am one of the Co-Chairs for this academic year. I am a third year double majoring in Political Science and Chicano/Latinos Studies. I grew up in the city of Baldwin Park, about 45 mins away. Some of my favorite activities are drawing, singing and DANCING. Dancing has always been a passion of mine and I love to take classes at the arc, my favorites would definitely be Salsa and Tango! I love dogs and teacup pigs. My favorite colors are oddly orange and yellow and I am a big Disney fan, so if you ever want to binge watch Disney movies I am your girl! I am the oldest of 4 and like many of you I am the first to go to college. Being a young Latina seeking to obtain an education isn't always easy, but with Hermanas Unidas I have found a support system that has helped me through it all. I hope that if anything is ever need you’ll turn to me not only as a fellow college student but truly as an Hermana. This year has wonderful thing in store for all of us, lets make this school year AMAZING! Si Se Puede!

Academic ChairHi everyone! My name is Lisette Juarez and I am a third year double major in Education Sciences and Social Ecology. I am from Norwalk, and I am always up for trying new things, going to Disneyland, or spending time with my hermanas! As the academic chair, some of my responsibilities include keeping track of academic hours and hosting workshops to hopefully help some of us survive this crazy college life. Also, if you have any questions or concerns (it doesn’t have to be about academics!), or just want to have a random conversation, feel free to contact me. HaU has been able to provide a home away from home for me here in Irvine, and I hope that we can help do the same for you! I look forward to meeting all of you :)

Community Service ChairHello hermanas my name is Alondra Luna and I am honored to be your 2016-2017 Community Service Chair! I am currently a second year Sociology major. The reason I joined Hermanas Unidas was to feel somewhere where I could belong and really express myself. This organization has become my home away from home and I am so grateful for it. I have met so many amazing people this past year and HaU truly made my first year at UCI memorable. I can't wait to meet new girls this year and serve the community with you all!

Collegiate Networking ChairHello all my lovely Hermanas! My name is Clarissa Limon and I’ve been elected as your 2016-2017 Social Chair! For those of you that don’t know me, I’m currently a 3rd year undergrad double majoring in Criminology, Law & Society, and Psychology & Social Behavior. I’ve been a member of Hermanas Unidas for about a year now and I can honestly say that it has been one of the wisest and most impactful decisions I’ve made as a student here at UCI. Before joining HaU, I really wanted to find an organization on campus where I felt that I belonged, and I finally felt that with my Hermanas. I have all sorts of special events planned for us this academic year and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you! If you have any questions about anything HaU, want to talk school/academics, or even just want someone to chit chat with, I invite you all to contact me!

Public Relations ChairHey Everyone! My name is Anthony Gutierrez, I am a third year double major Education Science and Social Ecology. I am from Baldwin Park, and I'm always up for a crazy adventure no matter what time. Did you say Disneyland? I'm hella down. I love doing spontaneous things, but also knows when its time to get serious. I am the oldest out of three kids to go to college. In addition, I am a first generation latino student to attend a four-year university. I joined HaU my first year here at UCI and it was by far the best club I have joined. I never thought to find a club so accepting and loving. The ladies in this club have become my family away from home. They are wonderful people who have a lot in-stored for you future members this academic year. If you have any questions of any sort. Don't hesitate to contact me :)

SecretaryHello wonderful people! My name is Gisselle Rodriguez, I am a 3rd year Criminology, Law and Society student, and this 2016-2017 year I will be HaU’s Secretary! I joined HaU during my first year, and it honestly was the best decision I ever made. I was looking for a group that focused on the empowerment of women and with HaU, I got so much more. I struggled so much during my first year, and HaU was the community of support I definitely needed, because I not only fostered friendships, but there was a group of strong women pushing me and encouraging me to work hard. I am so proud of this organization and excited for the upcoming year!

Peer AdvisorHey Hermanas, my name is Amy Gaona! I am a 5th year and a Sociology and Education double major. I am currently a teacher’s assistant at UCI Children’s Center and am in research in the school of education. Some of the things I enjoy is reading, trying new food and listening to music. I have been in HaU since my 2nd year, this year will be my 4th year in the org, and my 3rd year on steering. I was introduced to HaU, through my 2nd year roommates who were on steering that year. When I arrived at my first meeting I was a little nervous at first but instantly felt welcomed. From then on I kept going to meetings, socials, and study hours. Through HaU, I have been able to expand my leadership skills and learned more about myself as a person. I have also made my best/random/funniest memories from college so far thus meeting some of my closest friends from college so far. If you have any questions about anything or just want to grab a cup of coffee feel free to contact me.

TreasurerHello! My name is Emily Ramirez, I am a 3rd year Business Economics Major specializing in International Economics and minoring in Management. I am HaU’s treasurer for this academic year, my responsibilities include collecting dues and making sure that the organization is in good financial standing. I joined HaU my second year of college because I wanted to get more social and experience more of what college had to offer. I hope to get to know more amazing Hermanas and hope to help this organization help other people just like it helped me. Campus LiaisonHola Hola! My name is Marlen Rojas, and I am a third year Business Economics major. To begin, welcome to our HaU de UCI page! I hope you find all the resources you're looking for even if you're just slightly interested in joining because a little less than a year ago that was me. I remember it was already a couple of weeks into spring quarter and I was intimidated to attend a meeting since I figured that by then most members already knew each other, making it awkward for me to just pop in. But that was far from the case. Upon joining, I had spent my first two years at UCI trying to find a niche that felt like home away from home and I did so by joining a few organizations, but none gave me the experience of my first HaU meeting. I knew I could find a home away from home here. As I became more involved, I truly enjoyed HaU and all that it stands for that I even decided to run for the Campus Liaison position a couple of weeks later. So if you're reading this as motivation to come out, this is me telling you that it doesn't matter what week or quarter it is, you will always be welcome. And if you'e reading this because you want to know more about HaU, this is me telling you that you should come out and experience HaU yourself. :)

Peer AdvisorHello everyone! My name is Katherine Navarro and I am a 3rd year double majoring in Criminology Law and Society as well as Education Sciences. I will be one of the peer advisors for the 2016-2017 academic year and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you. The reason why I joined HaU goes back to my first year when a couple of my hall mates and I were trying to find a club to join on campus, and out of every other club on campus I most definitely enjoyed being with the fellow hermanas, I felt welcomed and that’s all anyone can ever ask for. A little bit more about me: I’m the youngest of four siblings and I am the first to go to college, so if you ever feel like talking about the struggle that is being a first generation, I’m totes here for you. I also work at the Panda on campus so come and say hello :D and lastly I absolutely love and believe in unicorns, and the belief I have in unicorns is the belief I have in each and every one of you! If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

Fundraising ChairHello everyone! My name is Jasmine Diaz and I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve HaU as the Fundraising Chair for the 2016-2017 school year. I’m currently a 3rd year Educational Sciences major, while trying to double major in Psychology and Social Behavior as well. A few fun facts: I work at the School of Engineering, I’m from a small town named Bell Gardens, and I am obsessed with shows like The Voice, Vampire Diaries, Walking Dead, and the HGTV channel! I have one younger brother who is applying to colleges this year and is hoping to become an anteater (fingers crossed)! I joined HaU this year because I felt that I needed to become more social and meet more people, and I believe I have chosen the right club to dedicate my time and effort to. I am so excited to see what this school year has in store for us all and I hope to meet you all!
